Georgia Gwinnett College has welcomed players from 13 different countries for the programs’ first two seasons. Juan Matute is a senior from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Juan has played in 20 games over two seasons as a Grizzly with 4 starts. I recently sat down with Juan and asked him a few questions about soccer and his last season as a Grizzly.
Me: What do you love most about Soccer?
Juan: The competition we find every time we step on the field.
Me: Are you excited for senior day?
Juan: Yes! Finally some recognition (laughs)!! I am sad as well.
Me: Does it hurt when you hit the ball with your head?
Juan: No if you hit it right! But sometimes the balls are harder than expected.
Me: What has been one of your best games as a senior?
Juan: I was injured a lot this season so I missed a lot of games. I would say the game against Montreat College.
Me: Who would you say is your biggest fan? Why?
Juan: My parents back home definitely! They always watch every game[online] and support me constantly in many ways.
The Grizzlies’ senior night ended with success! They went into two overtimes with Johan Sanchez , another honored senior of the night, scoring the winning goal with a score of 1-0! For a view of tonight’s game go to www.grizzlyathletics.com .
