Visiting Belmont Abbey hit for a .234 percentage and limited the Johnson C. Smith University volleyball team to a -.052 hitting percentage in dealing the Golden Bulls a 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-11) defeat in nonconference volleyball action at Brayboy Gym on Tuesday afternoon.
The Golden Bulls managed only 12 kills in the match, paced by Desire Walker (Douglasville, Ga.) who finished with three kills. JCSU had four players that finished with two kills each. Belmont Abbey had two players record double-digit kill performances with Lydia Sale finishing with a team-high 11 and teammate Dani Fortunato knocking down 10.
Defensively, JCSU’s Maya Washington (West Columbia, S.C.) and Georgina Diaz (Lincolnton, N.C.) each had four digs each.Makayla Adams (Michigan City, Ind.) had a good night at the net, recording five blocks while Azha McNeil (Fayetteville, N.C.) had four.
The loss drops JCSU to 3-9 overall. JCSU will look to get back into the win column on Thursday, Oct. 6 when it travels to arch-rival Livingstone for a 6:00 p.m. CIAA Southern Division match.
