The men’s basketball team (13-6) (6-0) isn’t the only team at Georgia State riding a win streak.

The women’s basketball team (8-10) (4-2) extended their win streak to three games with a 72-67 overtime win over Sun Belt Conference foe, Louisiana-Lafayette, on Thursday night in Lafayette, La.

Senior Panthers guard, Kendra Long, who leads the team in scoring, averaging 13.3 points per game had an off night against the Ragin’ Cajuns.

Long shot 3-of-11 from the field for ten points with four assists and three rebounds in 36 minutes.

“…Tonight, it was a team effort as so many different players stepped up and scored, rebounded, passes, defended and did things that don’t always show up on the stat sheets,” head coach Baldwin-Tener said (via Georgia State Athletics).

Junior center Brittany Logan and sophomore guard Ashlee Cole both stepped up this game to fill the scoring void with 16 points each for the Panthers.

Freshman forward/center Haley Gerrin also scored 10 points for Georgia State.

In addition to Logan’s 16 points, she snatched 15 rebounds, topping her 14 points and 12 rebounds performance against UCF on Nov. 19.

“I’m pleased to see Brittany Logan have her best overall game at Georgia State and her size can be a big difference in any game, so we need more of this type play from her.” head coach Baldwin-Tener said (via Georgia State Athletics).

The Panthers shot 44.6 percent from the field and 4-of-11 from beyond the arc.

Georgia State also outrebounded Louisiana-Lafayette 42-33.

Meanwhile, the Rajin’ Cajuns shot 38.1 percent from the field and 4-of-20 from beyond the arc.

Redshirt-sophomore guard Brooklyn Arceneaux scored 16 for the Rajin’ Cajuns, who lost their second consecutive game.

Their second leading scorer for the game, freshman guard Sylvana Okde – added 14 points – needing 14 shots to do it – for Louisiana-Lafayette to keep the team in the game.

However, the last lead the Ragin’ Cajuns had was when the score was 62-60 with 23.8 seconds left in the second period.

The Panthers took control of the lead shortly afterwards with Gerrin hitting a set of free throws and they never looked back in the 72-67 victory.

NOTES: This was Georgia State’s first overtime win since the 2007 season. With the win over Louisiana-Lafayette, the Panthers moves up to second place in The Sun Belt with Western Kentucky. The Lady Panthers will play Saturday at Lousiana-Monroe.
