Benedict Sweeps Men and Women Tennis Championship Titles

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga – Benedict swept both championship titles as the Tigers captured their fourth consecutive title and the women earned their third.

First seed, Benedict College, defeated No. 2 Clark Atlanta, 5-2, for their third consecutive championship title, in Tuesday’s final rounds at the Peachtree Tennis Center. Ramdyahn and Moutrie brought home wins for the Lady Panthers, but was not enough to lift them over the Benedict Lady Tigers. Albany State defeated Fort Valley State in Tuesday’s consolation match, 5-1, which secured their third place finish over the Lady Wildcats.

Benedict men’s tennis defeated Morehouse to claim their fourth consecutive championship title and a chance to return to the NCAA Regional Tournament. Morehouse’s Littles and Slade/Meghoo Peddie duo fought hard against the Tigers, but fell short in Benedict’s 5-2 win. Tuskegee finished in third place as they defeated Fort Valley State, 5-1, in their consolation match.

Benedict’s men and women tennis will compete in the NCAA Regional Tournament. The men’s regional tournament first and second rounds are scheduled for April 28-29th while the women are scheduled to compete April 30-May 1. The location is to be determined.
