ROME, GA – The Berry College Volleyball team has won its second straight Southern Athletic Association championship with Sunday’s 3-1 win over Birmingham-Southern College.

The Panthers handed the Vikings their only conference loss earlier in the season, but Berry sits as the top-seed heading into the SAA championship tournament which the Vikings will host on Nov. 8-10.

The sixth straight win for the Vikings came on Senior Day at Berry College, topping off an undefeated (3-0) weekend of volleyball for the SAA champs as they also defeated Millsaps and Piedmont. In addition to the honored seniors: Sarah Steffan, Stephanie Quinn, Megan Woodall and Claressa Brekke, the Vikings as a whole had an outstanding weekend.

Emily Stromberg finished the weekend with 32 kills adding to her team-leading total of 282, Kelsey Lochstamphor had 28 kills notching her season-total up to 225, and Katie O’Rourke contributed 30 kills pushing her total to 236.

One of the biggest assets to the Vikings this season has been setter Stephanie Quinn. She not only leads the team in assists, but has had multiple SAA athletic and academic honors. She topped off the weekend with 101 assists pushing her total to 980. She is one of five players to reach the 4,000 assist mark during her Berry career.

The Vikings sit at 21-5 overall, 13-1 in the conference. They play next on Friday, Nov. 1 against Trinity (Texas) at the Emory National Tournament. Tune in to www.berryvikings.com on Nov. 8 for the start of the SAA championship tournament.
