For the second straight year, the Berry College volleyball team has earned the No. 1 spot in the season’s first NCAA Division III Regional Rankings.
The rankings were released by the NCAA Division III women’s volleyball selection committee on Wednesday evening. Berry is also ranked No. 16 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25, the highest ranking in program history.
The Vikings sit at 18-2 on the year and 12-0 in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA), already wrapping up at least a share of their second-straight regular season conference title. Berry needs one more win in league play to secure the regular season crown outright and host the SAA tournament on Nov. 2-4.
Berry continues to rank in the top-10 in NCAA Division III for blocks per set with 2.26. Carson VanCampen (Stuart, FL) leads the way, ranking No. 7 individually in the nation with 1.33 B/S. Emily Hancock (Naples, FL) leads the SAA with 3.86 kills per set, helping Berry to a league-leading .231 hitting percentage.
Berry heads to Millsaps College on Friday at 8:00 p.m. with a shot at securing the No. 1 seed in the SAA tournament.
