Kentucky continues to struggle in the later part of the season. They fall to Georgia for the second time this week losing 6-4.
Kentucky started off strong towards the begging of the season, but began to struggle after playing Alabama during the middle of the season. Kentucky has lost 10 out of the last 15 games and dropped 6 series, including the one against Georgia. With just 5 games left, it doesn’t look like the Wildcats have quite figured out how to pull themselves out of this losing slump.
During Saturday’s game against Georgia, the Wildcats struggled offensively and surprising began to struggle defensively during the top of the 5th inning. After a few missed catches on the ball, the defensive fell apart. Kentucky allow Georgia to score 2 at the top of the 5th and 4 at the top of the 6th inning. After Maisie Steed hit a home run Kentucky tried to make a comeback, matching Georgia by scoring 4 in the bottom of the 6th. Kentucky would go scoreless the rest of the game.
The Wildcats play against Georgia tomorrow for the last game of the series. It will be interesting to see if head coach Lawson can motivate her team to pick up a win against Georgia.
Can the Wildcats get back to Kentucky softball and end the season the same way they started the season.
That will probably be the question on the minds of the players, coaches and fans.
The Wildcats play against the Bulldogs Sunday, April 26 at 1:00 pm.
