The Clayton State women’s soccer team has had a satisfactory season with a season record of 6-5-4 and a 3-5-2 standing in the PBC. If you ask me the ladies could give the men some tips on how to really bring the quarterfinals in. The Lakers are headed to No. 3 Columbus State (14-0-1. 10-0-0 PBC) On Tuesday October 30. This will be the Lakers 17th appearance out of 19 years.
The two teams have history dating back to the 2005-06 season where the ladies of CSU defeated the Cougars for the PBC championship. The Lakers lead the season with a winning record of 15-3-2 and a 6-1-1 PBC standing. That season ended with a red bow on top 2-1 victory over the Cougars.
Again in 2013, the teams faced off in a game decided by a goal scored within the first 10 minutes by Columbus State midfielder Chelsea Person. You can say that this territory is familiar to these warriors, but new teams mean new talent and staff.
This quarterfinal will be a rematch of the September 29th game, where the Cougars defeated the Lakers in a 3-1 victory. In the previous game CST roster was plagued with injuries. Hopefully with a more semi-healthy team, the ladies will bring a brilliant performance that will bring another championship back to Clayton State.
Congratulations to the Men and Women of Clayton State University Soccer on a successful season. Both teams are headed to the PBC quarterfinals with much support from the Laker family.
