Earlier this season, UWG head football coach, Darryl Dickey, announced that he would be stepping down as head coach immediately following the season. The news came expected to some and news to others as it sent shock waves throughout WolfNation. No matter the the side, everyone equally wanted the best for the Wolves and Coach Dickey this season. The year started out on a positive note, with the Wolves winning 4 out of their first 5 games. Unfortunately the Wolves would lose 4 out of the last 6 to finish 6 and 5 on the year. Finishing strong, the Wolves went out in style as they beat the favorite-to-win, and national powerhouse, Delta State, in a GSC Live Televised Game of the Week. The win marked a victory for all the seniors on Senior Night, and more importantly a win for Coach Dickey in his final contest as the head coach. Congratulations Coach Dickey on a great finish at UWG.
Dickey is also UWG’s Athletic Director, who recently announced that West Alabama’s, Will Hall, will be the next head coach for the Wolves. A proven winner as a former player and now a coach, Hall presents a high level of knowledge in football from an athletic and intellectual stand point, on top of having an infectious enthusiasm to recruit top talent to form a winning team. Hall certainly possesses what it takes to be successful in the GSC and at the national level in Division II, and it is evident that WolfNation is excited for football in 2014.
