The Georgia Southern Men’s Soccer team faced off against the Presbyterian College Blue Hose Tuesday (Sept. 24) night. After a hard-fought battle the Eagles finished with a 3-2 score, earning their fourth win of the season.
The Blue Hose started off the night scoring a goal in the 15th minute of the first half.
It isn’t a soccer game without some type of altercation, and true to form, seniors Thomas Valikonis and Nico Fazio (Presbyterian College) disputed about a missed call from the officials.
The Eagles recovered from the debate and retaliated just before halftime as Sophomore Reed Norton dribbled past several Blue Hose defenders to make the Eagles’ first goal.
Presbyterian College quickly re-took the lead after an error by the Eagle defense resulted in another goal for the Blue Hose, making the score 2-1.
This game truly highlighted the work of the Norton brothers as Hunter Norton (senior) assisted Senior Witt Carlisle with the Eagles’ second goal of the night, sending the teams into overtime.
Both teams remained scoreless throughout the first overtime and went into the second eager to finish the game victorious. The eldest Norton brother clinched the win for the Eagles with 1:56 left in double overtime.
The Eagles hope to continue winning at home when they host Davidson Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m..
