Elon, NC — For the first time in program history, the Elon Women’s Lacrosse team competed at the Division 1 level. Elon traveled to face the #6 Duke Blue Devils and fell 25-4.
Despite the loss, Elon head coach Josh Hexter, was proud of his team.
“It was so much fun,” said Hexter. We had a blast and what a better way for us to start the season by playing a first-class team like Duke. It was great competition, we loved it.”
With a new program, comes a new record book. Elon attack-men Sloane Kessler delivered the first ever goal for the Phoenix.
“Thats credit to my coaches and teammates,” said Kessler. “It wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for the assist that came down the field. We worked the ball really well that time, and credit to them. I was just able to finish.”
The Phoenix will take the field next on February 14th against Longwood, for their first ever home Lacrosse game.
