Two Peach State schools took to the basketball court yesterday to battle each other in a season opening exhibition. The Georgia College Bobcats, who are an NCAA Division II team, traveled to Georgia State to take on the Panthers, who are NCAA Division I.
In spite of the classification, this was indeed a game, as the Bobcats came out strong and to an early lead (8-2) due to a couple of threes. However, the Panthers defense and speed was too much for the Bobcats who had 25 turnovers on which Georgia State capitalized. In spite of this competitive game, the Bobcats turnovers were too much and they fall 83-61.
No shame though for the Bobcats as they saw bright spots out of their young players and many of their veterans. They had four players in double digits: Jeremiah Vrudny (10), Terrell Harris (10), Evyn Smith (12), and Dwight Anderson (10). Ryan Harrow led Georgia State with 27 points.
The Bobcats will be back in action Tuesday, November 11 at 7 PM, as they take on another Division I foe in Central Florida.
