WACO, Tx.—Albany State University’s Golden Rams football program moves from No. 20 to No. 16 in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches Poll, as announced Monday.
Albany State dominated over Tuskegee in their 20-7 win in the White Water Classic. The Golden Rams captured their first win over the Golden Tigers in over seven seasons with the help of their dominant defense.
In Saturday’s contest in Phenix City, the Golden Rams did not allow Tuskegee to cross the 50-yard line, aside from the opening drive, which forced the Golden Rams to turn over six out of their seven final possessions.
This win landed the Golden Rams their No. 16 spot, receiving 369 points, as the only Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) member school to gain a spot in the Top 25 for this week and matching their highest rank since September 2012.
The Golden Rams will continue their season this Saturday at home as they face North Greenville University at 7 pm.
