Albany State basketball team is playing in their annual homecoming game Saturday February 11th. However this is a little more than just a homecoming game, they will also be taking on their bitter rival Fort Valley State University.
The women will tip-off at 4pm and the men at 6pm, while both teams have been struggling as of late this homecoming game gives them the opportunity to right the ship and get back on track. The last time these two teams faced off the ASU women fell short 58-49, while the men were able to edge out a close win 69-67. I expect both teams to bring their absolute best in this matchup because of what is at stake. Everybody that attends these Universities know just how much hatred they have for one another so tempers will most definitely flare.
As expected many alumni and current students will be in attendance for this highly anticipated homecoming matchup. This rivalry means a lot to the city of Albany so I know the players and fans will be coming with a lot of energy and emotion. Homecoming is a time to celebrate the alumni coming back to their former university and there is nothing like a winning a homecoming game in front of the hometown fans and alumni.
I have a feeling that both of these games will be high intensity and very entertaining. If the Golden Rams can get a crucial win in front of a big homecoming crowd, then maybe this can propel them and give both teams momentum heading into the SIAC tournament.
