Jackson State University Tigers traveled to Huntsville, Alabama to take on the Alabama A&M Bulldogs on October 9, 2021. The Jackson State Tigers Dominated the Bulldogs with a 61-15 victory in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
Jackson State defense put the first points on the board. Tigers linebacker James Houston forced Bulldogs quarterback Aqeel Glass to fumble and returned it 67 yards for a score to put his team up 7-0. The JSU offense scored when JD Martin ran it in from two yards away increasing the lead to 14-0. Then AAMU scored making it 14-7 when Glass connected with Zabrian Moore for a 10-yard touchdown with 11:58 remaining in the second quarter. JSU quarterback Shedeur Sanders threw to Trevante Rucker for a 37-yard touchdown. Sanders went for again with another scoring pass to Warren Newman for 12 yards giving Jackson State a 33-7 lead at halftime.
Jackson State finished the day with 496 yards of offense, balancing 249 passing yards and 247 rushing yards. JSU ran for 8.8 yards per rush on AAMU’s defense and held AAMU to just 301 yards on offense.
Jackson State University is now 4-1. JSU Homecoming is October 16, 2021 at the Veteran’s Memorial Stadium in Jackson, MS against the Alabama State Hornets (3-2).
