The Johnson C. Smith University bowling team finished second at the CIAA Event No. 2 over the weekend at Bowl America in Midlothian, Va.
On day one, JCSU finished with a 2-2 record, falling to perennial league favorite Fayetteville State, 840-602 and to rival Livingstone by a 609-562 pin count. JCSU earned wins over Shaw (654-558) and St. Augustine’s (558-556) on day one.
On day two, team matches continued, with the Golden Bulls downing Shaw (636-601), St. Augustine’s (595-515) and Livingstone (533-522). Fayetteville State once again bested the Golden Bulls, winning 800-655, as the Golden Bulls finished 3-1 on the second day of team matches.
On the third day of the event, JCSU finished 2-1 in Baker scoring matches. The Golden Bulls downed Shaw 574-560 and Livingstone 686-597. Fayetteville State dropped JCSU by a 995-774 count.
Individually, JCSU was led by Brittany Brown (Durham, N.C.), as she finished with a 152.70 average, followed by Ke’Aira Wilson (Indianapolis, Ind.) with a 124.30 average.
JCSU completed the event with a total pin count of 9,136, good for second place and had a total three-day record of 7-4.
