Jaquez Parks was welcomed to the first football recruiting class of Kennesaw State University on Wednesday February 5th, 2014. Why is he such an important recruit for the new football program at Kennesaw State? Well he is a Class AAAA state championship quarterback from Griffin high school. Is that not enough to surprise you? He also got the nod from the Atlanta Journal Constitution as the state’s best high school football player of the year.
This dual-threat quarterback put up big numbers when he led his Griffin Bears to the AAAA-State championship season. Parks put up 3,638 passing yards while rushing for 1,329 yards during the record-breaking year. Let us not forget that he also put up 574 yards and five touchdowns in the championship game. Those 554 yards set a record for most yards from scrimmage in the state finals as well as the first one surpassing the 500-yard record mark. The dual-threat quarterback also posted a 3.8 GPA throughout his high school tenure.
Jaquez Parks’ success was no longer a secret after that as he was being recruited by Nebraska, Army, Harvard, Yale, and Air Force. Parks committed to the Kennesaw State University on January 30th, 2014. Jaquez Parks joins the other 28 recruits to headline Kennesaw State University’s first recruiting class. Head coach Brian Bohannon was ecstatic to welcome the 29 new Owl recruits to their new nest. Bohannon will lead the Kennesaw State Owl’s football team in preparing for their inaugural season in 2015.
