After the Kennesaw State University Owls won the Big South Championship on Saturday, November 20, 2021, it was announced the next day they would be participating in the FCS playoffs. Kennesaw State, from the Big South conference, will be facing off with Davidson College from the Pioneer Football League.
This will be the first ever meeting between the two teams, and it is widely predicted that the Owls will be victorious in this first round. Both the KSU Owls (10-1) and the Davidson Wildcats (8-2) run a triple-option offense with great success. Davidson is the number 1 rushing offense in the FCS averaging 348.4 YPG, and Kennesaw is close behind being the number 2 averaging 275.5 YPG.
The winner of the first round should be determined by which defense plays better, and KSU has proven throughout the season that their defense is superior. They are first in FCS in red zone defense. Their undefeated record against FCS teams says a lot, and the powerful defense was a huge contributor to this.
Whoever comes out on top will travel to East Tennessee State to fight for a spot in the third round of playoffs. The matchup between Kennesaw State and Davidson College will be at the Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, GA. Kickoff is set for 2 pm, and will show off some great football!
