After issues involving COVID-19, Kennesaw State women’s basketball had their first game after about 3 weeks. The Owls traveled to Virginia to head into conference play against the Liberty University Flames.
The first period consisted of an impressive number of 3-point attempts by both teams. Liberty just pushed in front of Kennesaw. The first quarter ended with a score of 19-11, Liberty on top.
The second quarter was very similar to the first for the teams as a whole. But senior co-captain Amani Johnson, was really able to flex her muscles, both offensively and defensively. The first half ended with Liberty in the lead 37-22.
After the half break, the Owls from Kennesaw State looked like an entirely new team. Liberty was not able to shut down KSU offensively and the third period ended with a score of 59-42.
The fourth quarter was even more promising for the Owls. The spectators could see the team’s efforts both offensively and defensively. KSU out-scored LU in the fourth period, and the second half; however, because of their lead in the first half, the Liberty Flames ended on top. The final score of the conference matchup was 68-58.
Kennesaw State is now 4-8, 0-1 as they head into another ASUN game against Florida Gulf Coast University (12-1, 1-0). The Owls will need to be at their best throughout the entire game to come out with a victory. Tip off will be held on Wednesday, January 12 at 7 pm in the KSU Convocation Center.
