SEC football is upon us as the No. 7 Auburn Tigers will take on visiting No.12 LSU for the CBS game of the week.
LSU comes in with confidence but still have some lingering questions. After a dominant 33-17 over Miami from Jerry World, the Tigers struggled with consistency on the o-line up front in a 31-0 defeat of the Southeastern Lions.
The Tigers will be getting left tackle Saahdiq Charles back after a one game suspension and are expected to move Austin Deculus from left to right tackle against Auburn.
Quarterback Joe Burrow has been solid through two weeks of the season after a lot of offseason buzz on who would be the guy behind center. Burrow went for 150 yards and three total touchdowns in the first half against Southeastern but only completed one pass in the second half.
Running back Nick Brossette has been the breakout feature back the Tigers were hoping for, with back to back career games of 125 and 137 yards on the ground. He figures to see similar workload but Clyde Edwards-Helaire ran well last week so he could possibly see an uptick in touches.
The defense is loaded with two first round picks anchoring the linebacker and cornerback positions. Devin White leads the team in tackles through two weeks, no surprise, and Greedy Williams picked off his first pass last week.
After being suspended for a year, former five star cornerback recruit Kristian Fulton has been opposite of Williams and has been shaking off some rust. Fulton has been good but not great and safety Grant Delpit has been used in a lot of pass rushing packages, leading the team in sacks with two.
Going up against a defensive front line in Auburn with three or four legit future first rounders, the offensive line will be on high alert and will need to play well if LSU has any chance of pulling off the upset.
Score Prediction: 28-24 Auburn
