As the ECU Pirates men’s basketball team has entered a new conference, the AAC (American Athletic Conference), this fresh and young Pirate team currently holds a (8-10) record and is currently ranked 9th. Not too shabby compared to the projections of how this first season in the AAC would go for this young team.
When I say “fresh players” or “young team” I am referring to the three youngest but nonetheless talented freshman guards Lance Tejada, and B.J. Tyson, and sophmore guard Caleb White. Both Tejada and Tyson were major contributors to the Pirates 66-61 win over Houston in their first AAC conference game.
This Pirate team really has the potential for growth and great success in the years to come. The move up from Conference USA hasn’t hurt either. This should definitely draw more young players to the Pirate team as in most people’s eyes the AAC is a higher level conference than that of their prior Conference USA.
This Saturday, January 24th, the Pirates will face Tulsa (12-5) at home in Minges Coliseum with the Minges Manics cheering them on! GO PIRATES!
