The Kennesaw State football team held firm at No. 2 in the AFCA Coaches Poll and No. 3 in the FCS STATS poll after its 56-17 win at Gardner-Webb on Saturday.
The Owls’ dominant rushing offense was on display as KSU racked up over 400 yards on the ground for the second straight game and the fourth time this season. Chandler Burks paced the offense with 77 rushing yards and three touchdowns, marking his sixth straight game with multiple rushing touchdowns. Burks leads all Division I rushers with 17 touchdowns on the year as the Owls recorded seven touchdowns on the ground, the fifth time in the last six games KSU has had six or more rushing touchdowns.
Freshman Isaac Foster added the only non-rushing touchdown of the game, returning a kickoff 100 yards for the score during the first quarter. Foster is the only player in the nation with two 100-yard kickoff returns this season.
Over the past six games, the Owls have outscored their opponents 317-63, recording at least 50 points in four of the last five games. KSU leads the Big South and ranks among the top-10 in the FCS for scoring offense (No. 4) and scoring defense (No. 6). The Owls are the top rushing attack in all of Division I football at 377.0 rush yards per game.
Following the bye week, the Owls will hit the road to take on Charleston Southern next Saturday (Oct. 27) at 6 p.m
