The Reinhardt Men’s soccer team has recently bounced back into winning ways after defeating the Rams of Bluefield College 2-0 on September 26th. After the game, RU head coach Joey Johnson stated, “I thought our guys showed character and resilience to bounce back from a tough loss mid-week with the necessary effort and discipline to earn a key conference victory against a very capable Bluefield side on the road.” The Eagles were able to control the game with goals from midfielder Matthew Gray and defender Alan Barikos. Gray was able to see the net off a Jordan Williams pass while Barikos fired a shot off an assist from senior midfielder Samson Nyamunda. In total, only six shots were on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Torge Wiedenroth made two saves from Bluefield to seal the victory. Coach Johnson stated, “I thought our guys did a nice job of executing the game plan and worked hard for one another, particularly on the defensive side of the ball.” Despite the approximate six-hour ride, Reinhardt was able to celebrate on the way back to Waleska, GA.

After a win against Bluefield, the Eagles traveled to Dayton, TN to take on the Lions of Bryan College. Reinhardt would come up short in a 3-2 defeat. Sophomore Matthew Gray would find the net for the second game straight in the fifth minute of the match. Bryan would respond in the 41st minute to tie the game. Within nine minutes into the second half, the Lions would score twice to take a 3-1 lead. With hopes of a comeback, junior defender Mark Logan would put the Eagles within a goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, the time would expire, ending the undefeated streak of Reinhardt in Appalachian Athletic Conference play.
The Eagles will travel to Laurinburg, NC in hopes to defeat the Knights of St. Andrews University. This will be a rematch of the AAC Championship game from 2014. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:15 p.m.
