Reinhardt Men’s Basketball team ended their season last year in the first round of the national tournament against Indiana Wesleyan; who ended up being the National Champions. The Eagles season ended with a (18-13) overall record and finished conference at (13-5).
This year the Eagles have 3 key transfer players and 4 redshirts who are looking to improve the outcome of this years season. They have Matt Misner a 6’10” center, Josh Stone a 6’6 power forward, Corey Rickx 6’1″ shooting guard, Justin Zachary 6″ shooting guard/ point guard, Warren Staples 6’4″ shooting guard, Perie Finley 6’5″ small forward, and Daquan Langston 5’10” point guard. In addition to those key players coming in they also received a new assistant coach this year from Fisk University.
The Eagles have been put to the test this preseason. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday’s they have to run 2.5 miles and lift weights as a team. On Tuesday and Thursday’s are their sprint and abs days; and everyday they have open gym that consist of four games per player.
With the Eagles working hard this off season, their expectation are much higher than last year. They plan on improving their record, having better team bonding (on and off the court), and to as a team have one common goal and not work as individuals. The teams biggest goal this year is to win the National Championship
