On November 27th the Lakers (3-2, 0-0 PBC) went head to head with the Shorter Hawks (1,4, 0-0 GSC) The Lakers defeated the Hawks 81-43. The Lakers outscored shorter in all four quarters. Averaging thirty-eight points the first half and forty-three the second.
Senior Guard Monica Alexander led the team with 13 points and 3 steals in 20 minutes, while guard Taneria Wilson close behind with 12 points and 18 minutes. Senior centers Saquoria Miles and Aleisha Merriweather both attributed 10 points to the victory.
Taneria Wilson scored the first back to back points to give CST the lead in the first minutes of the game. With that boost the Lakers go on a 14-3 run. The hawks were trailing by 9. Shortly after, Shorter went on a spree of 9-0 within 2 minutes.
Closer to the ending of the first half the Lakers went on a 24-8 run, leaving the first half score set to 38-23. Not Letting up on Shorter the Lakers went into the third quarter with a gust of energy. Senior Alexander made a swift three to start the quarter. The Hawks began to cut the lead from 27-8 to end the quarter 45-31, Lakers still leading.
The Hawks leading scorer, with 10 points and 3 out of 4 field goals made in 22 minutes, was junior Tatum Ragsdale.
The game ended with 35 rebounds from CST, 10 more than Shorter. Clayton State led with 10 more steals over Shorter. The Hawks led in turnovers with 13 more TO than Clayton State University.
The Lakers are headed on PBC game extravaganza. Their first stop at Flagler College on November 30, 2018.
