SIAC Football Dominates 2017 Don Hansen All-Super Region Two Teams

BROOKFIELD, Ill. (February 1, 2018) – The Don Hansen Football Committee has released the 2017 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All- Super Region Two squad, released Jan. 30.

The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988. Don Hansen’s Football Gazette began selecting Division II All-Region squads in 2003.

The first-team and second-team All-Region selections advance to a national ballot from which the 2017 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America team will be selected.

Osband Thompson, Tuskegee, was named Super Region Two Co-Defensive Player of the Year, alongside MarQuel Shelton, Lane, who was named Super Region Two Freshman of the Year.

Among others represented in their respective teams are Justin Hardy, SIAC Offensive Player of the Year. Other schools include Kentucky State, Fort Valley State, Lane, Clark Atlanta, Albany State, and Morehouse.

I am a senior, Mass Media Arts major with a concentration in Radio, Television, and Film at Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA. I plan to pursue a graduate degree following my undergraduate experience where I am interested in studying Sports Management.
