On Friday night at Louisvilleās Lynn Soccer Stadium the Wildcats did it again. For the 4th consecutive season the Wildcats beat arch rival University of Louisville 2-0.
Kentucky started off strong defensively but struggled on the offensive side of the ball. In the first half MF/D Kaitlin Miller was key in keeping the Cardinals out of the Wildcats backfield. Goal Keeper Taylor Braun was never really tested until Louisville received a free kick, on what many considered a controversial call. It was a scoreless game as the end of the first half drew near.
In the second half Kentucky’s strikers came out with a vengeance and new attitude, firing shots from midfield.
Zoe Swift dropped back from the forward position to help out in the midfield, providing much more offensive opportunities for the Wildcats.
With 10 minutes left in the second half Kentucky managed to score 2 goals. The first goal came from sophomore Michaela Dooley scoring off of an unanticipated header; while The second goal came from an assist from Dooley to Swift, who put the ball in the back of the net to solidify the win.
