Basketball season is winding down and tournaments are approaching, so let’s take a moment and appreciate the grooviness of this 70s throwback.

Heading into the 1974-75 season, the Clemson mens basketball team had a 7-year streak of bad luck in the ACC, with their last winning season in the conference being in 1967. During his last year as head coach, Tates Locke was determined to end the trend.
On January 22, 1975, the Tigers took on No. 3-ranked Maryland at home in Littlejohn Coliseum. After a nail-biter of a game, Clemson defeated Maryland in an 83-82 upset. That season, the team went on to finish 8-4 in the ACC and 19th in the Coach’s Poll.
Just look at those socks and shorts!
