West Georgia got off to a good start jumping out to a 21-10 lead with about 10 minutes left. The Wolves led by as many as 16 in the half, but the Warhawks made a late run to cut it to 10 before the break. The haltime score was 38-28.
The 2nd half both teams came out with high intensity and executing on the offensive side of the ball. The Warhawks eventually made a run to capture a 2 point lead with 10 minutes left to play. From here they played close all the way down into crunch time.
Seth Brown-Carter was a major force down the stretch scoring bucket after bucket to get the Wolves the lead, setting this game up for a big finish in the last 2 minutes. Down by 2 points with about 10 seconds to play Stanley Davis for the Warhawks was fouled on a 3 point jumper, he went to the line with a chance to put his team up 1 and did just that sinking all 3 free throws calmly. Michael Zabetakis was able to draw a foul and get to the line with less than 1 second left and a chance to basically win the game. Michael Zabetakis called game and sunk both shots to send UWG home with the victory.
Maharrith Jackson put in a very strong effort for thee Warhawks, he was a force in the paint and ended the game with 24 points and 15 rebounds. Carlos Bell also had a solid game ending with 14 points and 5 rebounds.
Seth Brown-Carter was a scoring machine being very efficient and effective from all three levels on the court. He finished with a game-high 28 points on 10-16 from the field and added 6 rebounds. Kadeim Jones was also instrumental in the victory for the Wolves, playing all 40 minutes of the game and pouring in 16 points.
The game was well played on both sides, both teams fought until the very end but the Wolves just made 1 more play down the stretch and was able to pull the victory out on their home floor by a score of 75-74.
