The Georgia College softball team was on the road again on Saturday, as they traveled to take on Nova Southeastern. GC, winners of four in a row coming into the day, was looking to build on a hot start to the season.
In the first game, the Bobcats saw a low scoring game go their way as they reeled in the 4-2 victory. The defense excelled behind pitching ace, Marisa Boyette. Boyette garnered her ninth win of the season, pitching another complete game and allowing just two runs on nine hits. Down for most of the game, Georgia College clawed across three runs in the fifth, and one run in the seventh to seal the victory. Second baseman, Abi Leroy, had two hits and two RBIs to power the Cats to the victory. Boyette remains undefeated as her record improved to 9-0.
The second game was much of the same; excellent pitching from both teams. Carly Lewis pitched a complete game shutout for GC, striking out four batters. In a game that would lack much offense, the Bobcats were able to scratch two runs on the board; one in the fourth and one in the seventh inning. They finished with nine hits in the ball game, led by two a piece for first baseman Faith Flanders and catcher Lacey Najafi.
Carly Lewis improves to 6-3 on the season and the Bobcats improve to 15-3 overall. The next games are set for Wednesday as they will travel to take on Columbus State starting at 4:00 PM.
