Notre Dame junior outside hitter Rebecca Nunge and Miami redshirt junior setter Haley Templeton have been named this week’s ACC Volleyball Co-Players of the Week, and Virginia Tech freshman outside hitter Ester Talamazzi earned the ACC Freshman of the Week nod.
Nunge was named the BGSU/Toledo Invitational MVP after leading Notre Dame to a 3-0 record in the tournament, with wins over VCU, Bowling Green and Toledo. The junior posted 29 kills on 63 attempts, recording only two errors for a hitting percentage of .429. Her hitting percentage of .615 in the win over Toledo was a career-best. Nunge also recorded nine blocks and six digs for Notre Dame.
The MVP of the Sunshine State Classic, Templeton helped Miami to wins over Florida Atlantic, UCF and Florida Gulf Coast. The junior racked up 128 assists on the weekend, including a career-high-tying 56 assists against FAU. Templeton also recorded 16 digs, 13 kills and seven blocks over the course of Miami’s three wins.
Talamazzi garnered A-State Invitational Tournament MVP honors following her performance for Virginia Tech over the weekend. The Hokies defeated Arkansas State and SMU to win the tournament title, their second-straight tournament win of the year. The rookie tallied 38 kills and 28 digs on the weekend, highlighted by career highs in kills (14) and digs (16) against Ole Miss.
ACC Volleyball returns to action on Thursday, when Georgia Tech will host Xavier.
