After a long wait Billy Donovan has finally earned his 500th career win after the Florida-Tennessee game on Saturday, February 28th. Despite the rocky season that the Gators have endured, Donovan still had faith in his team to earn a well-deserved win and having that win take place in Gainesville made it that much more special for the Gators.
Donovan is now the second-youngest coach in Division I to accomplish this task. With the stadium cheering him on at the end of the game, Donovan said that he was extremely touched and thankful. Even though it took a while to get to this point, the team was proud to give him his 500th win.
Although the Gators were without their leading scorer, Michael Frazier II, Florida managed to play one of their better games of the season but the main focus of the night was on whether or not Donovan would finally earn that win.
With this milestone reached, Donovan looks forward to watching the Gators grow and improve.
