After a late game rally, the Clemson Tigers mens basketball team has been bounced from the 2015 ACC basketball Tournament after a 76-73 loss to the Florida State Seminoles. The Tigers entered Greensboro as the 8th seed, taking on the 9th seeded ‘Noles in the second round of the ACC Tournament.During the regular season, Clemson and FSU split their regular season series, FSU beating the Tigers in Clemson 59-55 while Clemson beat FSU 62-56 in Tallahassee.
The Tigers trailed by 20 with 9 minutes left in the game, and were able to mount a rally that made this game an instant classic. With 25.2 seconds left, the Seminoles led 75-73, and proceeded to throw away an inbounds pass. The Tigers fed Rod Hall, who fought through injuries to have 25 points, and he pulled up on a shot that went just short of tying the game for Clemson. As FSU pulled the rebound, they were fouled. Phil Cofer hit the second of his 2 rebounds. Clemson took it past half court, and proceeded to call a timeout. After the timeout, a play was drawn up for Gabe Devoe, who missed a deep three. Jaron Blossomgame rebounded the ball and tried to through up a desperation basket, which fell unmade, as the buzzer sounded. The Tigers would fall 76-73, and now will wait to see what happens in the post season.
As the NCAA Tournament doors are all but shut, a fleeting hope lasts to go to the NIT. If the NIT doesn’t happen, the Tigers will have to make the choice if they want to play in one of the other tournaments or simply end the season and just wait until next year. We should know the Tigers postseason destination within the next week
