ECU men’s and women’s basketball both opened this weekend with a double header where both teams would start the season off with wins.
The Lady Pirates got over 100 points on opening night against the Greensboro Pride. Fun fact, Women’s Basketball coach Heather Macy graduated from Greensboro college.
Former Vanderbilt player, transfer, Kristen Gaffney led the team with 23 points followed by Antoinette Bannister and Bre McDonald who both had 18 points.
The men’s team followed snagging Coach Jeff Lebo his 100th win as a coach. Familiar faces on the court BJ Tyson, Kentrell Berkley and Caleb White each scored double numbers against Grambling State. For White, those 20 points would be a career high. The final score was 72-57, Pirates.
Hopefully this momentum from both teams will keep up throughout the year and make for a great season of hoops!
