After several weeks of competition, the Lady Eagles Soccer team clinched a win during their home opener. Not only was this game their first of the season, it was also the first Division I win for the Eagles new head coach Brian Dunleavy. The Eagles were the first to score, with freshman Jennifer Wittick posting her first goal of the season in the 16th minute of the first half.
Close to the 23rd minute mark, Wittick scored again with assistance from McKenna Storey. This put the Eagles up 2-0 over Stetson. However, not even 45 seconds later, Stetson fired back with their first goal of the game on a corner kick that was knocked in by Stetson player Alyssa Welsh.
Going into the second half the Eagles were up 2-1 over Stetson. This would be the last time either team scored for the evening.
With a 2-1 victory over Stetson, the Eagles will return to play next Friday against Jacksonville University.
