Rome, GA – The Berry College men’s lacrosse team has a new head coach.
Curtis Gilbert previously coached at New England College where he led his team to a 10-7 record and runner-ups in the North Atlantic Conference. In his seven seasons at New England College, Gilbert’s overall record is 69-48 with a 42-19 conference record.
He comes to Berry with a very good team waiting to greet him. Last season, the team shared the conference title with Sewanee and Centre after a 6-1 conference record; the team’s overall record was 13-5. In the Southern Athletic Association championship game, the team came up short in a heartbreaking second overtime loss to Sewanee.
The team is no stranger to big games and lots of wins. Gilbert’s experience will be interesting to watch as he takes the helm of this crew, but we can only wait for the flowers to bloom and see if the team can avenge their tough double-overtime loss that plagued their offseason.
