Head Coach: Joey Johnson
Current Record: 1-3
Facility: Ken White Field
The Eagles opened the season with two losses: 1-2 vs. Martin Methodist College (8/29) and 0-1 vs. Berry College (9/1). The Eagles later bounced back, however, and pulled an upset against the #13 ranked Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett College. After the victory, Coach Joey Johnson stated, “Although I am pleased by our guys earning a win against a talented and well-coached Georgia Gwinnett side, I am more pleased with manner which we played for 90 minutes.” The Eagles had nine targets on goal against the Grizzlies with goals scored by Sophomores Jordan Williams and Matthew Gray within ninety-four seconds into the second half. The team played solid defense throughout the match with standout Torge Wiedenroth protecting the net. On September 12th, the Eagles rallied but later suffered a heart-breaking 2-3 loss to Brewton-Parker College (BPC). BPC scored their first two goals in 52 minutes. A minute and a half later, Reinhardt’s (RU) Jordan Williams scores the Eagles first goal of the contest. With the assistance of his teammates and ball/dribbling skills, Williams was able defeat BPC’s defenders and score another goal in the 76th minute of play. Because of this goal, the score was then tied at 2. However, in the 85th minute, BPC would score the game winning goal and secure the win. RU will be back at Ken White Field to hold the Skyhawks of Point University. Kick off time is set for 4 pm.
