Eight non-conference games into the season and the Reinhardt Lady Eagle’s have evenly split their losses and victories 4 to 4. The Lady Eagles will play their first conference game this upcoming Friday against Montreat College at 6:30 PM.

The Reinhardt Lady Eagles recently came home with a 1-2 record from the Cumberland University Tournament, where they played Freed-Hardman University (L), Cumberland University (W), and Fisk University (L). Sam Croce, a Junior from Alpharetta, Georgia, was named AAC Setter of the Week after her performance this past week. Croce had 21 assists against Freed-Hardman University, 31 assists against Cumberland University, and 40 assists against Fisk University. Her teammates Katie Gilstrap and Taylor Larkey also performed well in the Cumberland Tournament as they both reached game-highs; Gilstrap with 20 kills during the match against Fisk University, and Larkey with 17 digs against Cumberland University. Junior Katelyn Wienbarg added 19 kills to the Cumberland University match.

Montreat finished the past week with a 1-3 record at the Shawnee State Volleyball Tournament, where they played University of Northwestern Ohio (L), University of Rio Grande (W), Kentucky Christian University (L), and Shawnee State University (L). Sophomore Courtney Glover led her team with 18 kills in their one and only victory against University of Rio Grande, while senior Kara Smith added 20 digs and 15 kills. A freshman from Chattanooga, Tennessee added to this win with a personal best of 44 assists during the match. Head coach, Kristy Kramer is noted on saying that her team is “improving each game,” and they are “working hard to make sure that they are prepared for conference play.” With their overall record being only 1-11, the Lady Cavs will have to tighten up to beat the Lady Eagles.

As Reinhardt seeks to improve their overall record to 5-4, the Lady Eagles are currently preparing for their trip to Montreat College on September 19th. For more information on the Lady Eagles Volleyball team check out Reinhardt University’s athletic website, or check out http://www.reinhardteagles.com/schedule/0/3.php for the team’s schedule and results.
