    XC Runner of the Week

    ATLANTA, Ga—Channelle Wong (Albany State) was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Female Runner of the Week alongside Zachary Johnson (Albany State) who was selected as Male Runner of the Week, released by the league office on Wednesday.

    Wong had a 22nd place finish in the Columbus State 14th Annual Cougar Invitational this past weekend in Columbus, Ga. She led the race of 95 women with a time of 20:13.68 giving her 14 points. The sophomore’s placing posted a team average (time) of 21:06.82. Albany State finished fourth out of 12 teams including conference opponents: Clark Atlanta, Tuskegee, and Fort Valley State.

    Johnson paced the Golden Rams in the Men’s 8K run as he placed 12th with a time of 27:11.60 giving him ten points. The freshman led the race of 75 men and pushed the Golden Rams into a fourth place finish with an average time of 28:27.19. Albany State finished with four of their six male entrants in the top 30.

    Albany State will host the Willie Laster Invitational on Saturday, September 30th on West Campus.

    I am a senior, Mass Media Arts major with a concentration in Radio, Television, and Film at Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA. I stay involved on-campus as I maintain being a full time Division II student-athlete with being active in organizations and activities such as Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., "The Panther" Student Newspaper, etc. Career interests are in fields such as sports management, broadcast journalism, public relations, and strategic communications.
