Hey sports fans, it’s been an exciting season for the athletes, spectators, and everyone in WolfNation alike! The UWG Volleyball team regrouped after an early exit at last year’s Gulf South Conference Tournament and hit the off-season with every intention to seek redemption during the upcoming season. Under the new team motto “Unfinished Business” the wolves came out of the gate firing, winning 6 out of their first 8 matches. The Wolves would surge and slide throughout the season; however, what did not change was their intensity as they went on to win their final 3 games to capture a 3rd seed in the GSC Tournament. Playing some of their best volleyball all season, the Wolves won two tough contest to reach the championship match. Unfortunately there, the Wolves would be bested as they lost the match 3-2.
Despite the loss in the championship game, the ladies should hold their heads high as they accomplished a great deal this season. They team increased their winning percentage not to mention, made it to the big game as the Wolves lost in the first round of the GSC tournament the previous year. Leading the wolves all season were their very poised and polished senior leaders in Leslie Bemis, Emily Reul, and Melissa Holt, whom received All-GSC honors. Trust this off-season shall be equally vigorous as the last one in preparation for a highly anticipated return to the court in 2014.
