Despite the disappointing result of last year’s football season; they’ve got the eye of a Tiger
This past Saturday Kentucky had their first game of the season against UT Martin.
Kentucky got off to a good start with quarterback Patrick Towles ability to put together some great passes to his receivers. With about 7 minutes left in the first quarter, Towels handed the ball off to running back Jojo Kemp to give UK their first touchdown. Just minutes after their first touchdown linebacker Josh Forrest made an all too important tackle and the Wildcats got the football back. With just over 2 minutes left in the first quarter Towles handed the ball off for Braylon Heard to run for the touchdown. As the first quarter came to a close Kentucky was up by 14 point.
Kentucky continued to gain momentum in the second quarter and scored 21 unanswered points.Interceptions by players AJ Stamps and Fred Tiller really set the tone for the rest of the game as the Wildcats went on to score 24 more points during the game.
While the UK football team was very happy about their 59 – 14 win; they are looking forward to next week’s game.
Kentucky has a reputation of only being able to win the first 2 games of the season. With new quarter Patrick Towels and Jojo Kemp at running back, it will be interesting to see if they can maintain their momentum and win some big SEC games.
Look out for Kentucky to take on the Ohio Bobcats on September 6th at 3:30.
