Georgia State defensive end Terry Thomas has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District® football team for the second straight year, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. As a first-team Academic All-District® selection, Thomas is now eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America® football team.
The senior from McDonough, Ga., maintains a 3.4 GPA while majoring in biological science. Enrolled in Georgia State’s Honors College, he has been named to the Dean’s List and the Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll. Earlier this fall, he was named a semifinalist for the 2019 William V. Campbell Trophy® by the National Football Foundation recognizing the best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and leadership.
Active on campus, Thomas serves as a campus ambassador in Georgia State’s 1913 Society and he is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.
On the field, Thomas is a three-year starter at defensive end who earned honorable mention All-Sun Belt Conference recognition in 2018.
This season, he has collected 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two pass breakups and a fumble recovery for the GSU defense, helping the Panthers to a 6-3 record.
