The Lady Eagles’ Volleyball team swept Bluefield College on Friday September 18. Some key players for the Eagles were Katelyn Wienberg, Ally Hurd, Angel Cornista, and Nancy Hatcher. Wienbarg had a match-high of 10 kills. Hurd played strong and added two extra kills. Cornista displayed strong serving skills in the match as well. Hatcher had 10 digs, which led all of the players. The Eagles offensive attack was too much to handle for the Rams of Bluefield. On Saturday September 19, the Eagles were faced against some good competition. The Union College Lady Bulldogs had swept the Eagles in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play. Six players of the Eagles had at least three kills. Sam Croce led the team with 26 assists and 8 digs. Following Croce, Hatcher had seven digs while Cornista had six. On Tuesday September 22, the Lady Eagles witnessed some adversity. The Lady Eagles lost to the Bears of Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland, Ga. Reinhardt had the chance to win in AAC play, but errors and miscues wounded the team. With their many critical errors and penalties, Reinhardt was not in good standing. Even though the Eagles struggled, many players did set some new personal records. Arden Fox set a career-high with 23 digs. Hatcher added a career-best of 22. In addition, Sam Croce earned a double-double with 31 assists and 21 digs. An accomplishment of the game was the overall team effort. As a team, the Lady Eagles had 116 digs. Hurd had 12 while Megan Schillo had 11. Reinhardt will host Montreat College on Friday the 25. Game is at home and serve time is at 6:30PM.
