This past Tuesday night the Wildcats proved to be too much to handle for the young Jayhawks basketball team. Kentucky beat the 5th ranked Kansas team 72 – 40.
Kansas basketball head coach Bill Self struggled to find an answer for UK’s big men. Freshmen Karl Townes and Marcus Lee had a combined total of 8 block shots. Kentucky dominated on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball; but more importantly the size of UK’s basketball team was too much for the Jayhawks to handle. Karl Townes is a very talented player who was highly recruited out of high school. He will be a key player for Kentucky this season considering he consistently puts up big numbers for the Wildcats basketball team.
Kentucky also played against Boston University Friday and dominated, winning the game by more than 20 points.
Many still wonder if Kentucky has what it takes to be able to compete and win against other highly ranked teams like Duke. Kentucky currently is ranked number one in the nation, which is nothing new for the Wildcats. UK has been in this position before. The question that remains is will the Wildcats be able to maintain its poise and composure to remain unbeaten though the entirety of this basketball season and walk away with a championship.
The season is still young but a very exciting basketball season lies ahead for this talented team. Tune in to watch the Wildcats play Sunday against Montana State at 6:00 pm at Rupp Arena.
