After two highly successful weeks at home that saw the Berry Vikings (7-0, 5-0 SAA) outscore opponents 105-6, the Vikings extended their run of dominance over Hendrix College (1-6, 1-4 SAA), 35-14. The Vikings navigated their way through the pouring rain to secure their seventh straight victory and continue their journey towards a third consecutive SAA title.
Berry got into some trouble early, as Tate Adcock threw one of his two interceptions on the afternoon. The passing game struggled all day, as both Adcock and Heath Burchfield combined for only 59 pass yards and one touchdown.
After the miscue by Adcock, the Vikings rattled off 28 straight points, before Hendrix scored right before the half, making it 28-7. With the rain beating down, both teams only combined for a touchdown apiece. Star receiver Mason Kinsey took a handoff 36 yards for a touchdown to secure the victory.
With the quarterbacks struggling, the run game picked up the slack totaling 271 yards on the ground. Joey Connors led the attack with 93 yards on 15 carries and one touchdown. Not to be outdone by his counterpart, CJ Stone added 83 yards on 18 carries. Sophomore Isaiah Dawson chipped in with 63 yards and a score as well. The offensive line for the Vikings did a great job of getting a good push up front and created some big holes for the tailbacks to run through.
The Vikings defense did a great job of containing the Warriors all afternoon, led by senior defensive lineman Bryson Lamboy. Lamboy led the Vikings with eight total tackles and one sack. Linebacker JR Cendoya tallied seven tackles and one tackle for loss as well.
Berry will look to continue their undefeated run next week at home against Millsaps. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 pm EST.
