On Saturday, November 8th, #25 Campbellsville Tigers defeated #4 Faulkner Eagles at home 30-21. It was an intense competition throughout the entire game between the Tigers and Eagles, with both teams holding each other at zero points on the board till the second quarter. However, the Tigers were able to break through the Eagles defense and score two touch downs, a safety and a field goal within the last eight minutes of the second quarter, leaving the score 19-0 at half time. In second half the Tigers defense let up and the Eagles scored three touch downs before the Tigers could score at all, putting the score 21-19. The Tigers came to win, and in the last eight minutes they were able to score twice and holding the Eagles, bringing the game to 30-21. A few players Reinhardt will need to watch out for this Saturday are #2 AJ Strong, completed a 64 yard pass from #5 Jacob Russell QB. #3 Trevon Chatman, completed a3 yard run and an 18 yard pass from Jacob Russell. And last but not least, #86 Will Ward, kicker completed two field goals with a total of 53 yards to help the Tigers win the game 30-21.
This past Saturday the Eagles of Reinhardt took on #19 Cumberland in what would be a thrilling game. The Eagles opened up strong on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Scoring two early touchdowns the Eagles were on their way to going up 21-0 until a fumble near the end zone for the Eagles led to a turnover and giving the ball to the Bulldogs, but with a strong defensive front Reinhardt was able to force a Cumberland punt which ended the first quarter of play with Reinhardt leading the contest 14-0. Both teams would score in the second quarter, Reinhardt adding one touchdown and Cumberland adding two touchdowns, and whenever halftime rolled around Reinhardt would still be on top by a touchdown with the score being 21-14. Reinhardt would kick off to the Bulldogs in the opening of the second half but once again the Eagles defense would force another punt giving the ball back to Reinhardt. Starting at midfield it didn’t take long before Ian McIntosh and the Eagles would find the end zone again giving Reinhardt more cushion in their lead now being up two touchdowns. The Bulldogs would score quickly with a pass from Quarterback Broc Loveless to Anthony Woodard for a touchdown.
When the Bulldogs lined up to kick the extra point Reinhardt’s Lenard Robinson was able to come up with a huge block for the Eagles leaving the game at an eight point game with the Eagles up 28-20. With the momentum going their way Reinhardt’s Quarterback, Johnathon Chamblee, would show off his arm by connecting with Wide Receiver Aaron Kennedy on a 16 yard pass for another Reinhardt touchdown. In the fourth quarter the Bulldogs would cut the lead to seven and with time running out Reinhardt’s defense would once again come up huge forcing a Cumberland punt giving Reinhardt control of the ball. The Eagles would run the clock down until the game was finally over leaving the Reinhardt Eagles victorious. Running Back Ian McIntosh would finish the day with two touchdowns on the ground while Wide Receiver Aaron Kennedy would grab five passes that led to him scoring one touchdown with 111 yards on the day.
With this win and with Campbellsville’s win over Faulkner last week the Eagles, with a victory over the Tigers on Saturday, would repeat as Mid-South Conference Champions. The game is set to be played this Saturday, November 15th, 2014 at 12:00pm EST at Ken White Field in Waleska, Ga.
