The Georgia Southern Baseball Team stepped back onto J.I. Clements for the first pitch of the 2015 Season. After recording a 3-0 victory over the Bethune- Cookman Wildcats Friday, February 13, 2015, the Eagles will continue their home-opening weekend with two more games verses the Wildcats.
The current Sunbelt Standings for pre-season have the Eagles in the first place, as they are the only team who has started play. Last year, in the Southern Conference, the Eagles won the season championships before traveling to the Tallahassee Regionals and falling to No. 2 seeded Alabama. The Eagles finished the 2014 campaign 40-23, won the Southern Conference Tournament and won a game in postseason play for the first time 2002.
The Eagles hope to prove themselves this year in their first season of the Sunbelt. They will host seven more home games before traveling to Jacksonville on February 25, 2015 to play against University of North Florida.
With two more games against Bethune- Cookman, one against Georgia Tech, three against West Virginia and one against The Citadel, the Eagles have a tough few weeks ahead of them. The Eagles started their win streak Friday by scoring two runs in the second inning and put the final point on the board in the fifth inning. The Eagles shut out the Wildcats and hope to continue their undefeated season into the rest of the weekend. They will take the field Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
