Georgia State men’s soccer looks to make it four wins in a row against rival Georgia Southern tomorrow, as the Panthers travel to Statesboro for a nightly showdown against the Eagles.
GSU heads into the weekend on a two-game win streak, most recently knocking off Gardner-Webb 2-1 on Tuesday. The Panthers got the first goal of the match from freshman Logan Luque and later scored the game-winner on a goal from Aris Briggs.
Georgia State ranks second in the Sun Belt in both goals scored with 17 and goals allowed with 11. Briggs and senior defender Lukas Joyner lead the team with three goals apiece, while junior goalkeeper Paul Tyson is second in the league in both goals against average and save percentage.
Georgia Southern comes off a 1-1 draw in double overtime to UAB on Tuesday. The Eagles lead the conference in goals scored with 20 and assists with 16. Georgia Southern is led by senior midfielder Javier Carbonell who leads the Sun Belt, ranked fourth in NCAA Division I in goals scored with 13. The showdown begins at 7 PM tomorrow evening at the Eagle Field.
