The Kennesaw State University men’s basketball team continued their ASUN conference play at University of North Florida. There are two words to characterize this game: exciting and competitive.
The KSU Owls and the UNF Ospreys were going back and forth scoring in the first half. Kennesaw started falling behind, because of a low field goal percentage. The Owls were also attempting treys they were not making. UNF ended up in the lead, ending the first half with a score of 34-28.
The two teams came out of the break with extreme energy. Kennesaw State took advantage of both ends of the court to start stretching a lead for themselves. The Owls were racking up quite a few fouls, and this allowed the Ospreys to put some points on the board. The last 4 minutes of the matchup was incredible for both teams. KSU was ahead by 4 points, but UNF did not back down. With 2 minutes left, KSU no longer had the lead, and the two were tied 59-59. Overtime was looking like a possibility until the tie was finally broken with 30 seconds left by a Chris Youngblood’s three pointer. The score was 62-60, and with time running out , North Florida’s Jarius Hicklen shot a very promising three pointer that could have ended the game , but he missed. The final score was 62-60, another conference win for the KSU Owls!
The Kennesaw State University Owls are now 3-0 in the ASUN for the first time in program history. They hope to continue this streak at their next game against Liberty University(12-6, 3-0). Both these teams are undefeated in the ASUN, but that will end for one of those teams on January 20th. Tip off is set for 7 pm, and you won’t want to miss it.
