The Reinhardt Men’s Soccer team has been on a roll lately, shutting out their last two opponents after a slow start to the beginning of the season. Reinhardt has managed to pull itself back to .500 on the season and won its conference opener against Point University on September 16th. In the Point matchup, three different Eagles scored in the shutout victory. Jordan Williams, Jose Rubio, and Alan Barikos each found the back of the net. After the great conference win, Head Coach Joey Johnson stated that, “We have a lot to learn and improve upon moving forward as a team but I appreciate the work my guys have put in and I like the direction we are moving in. It was definitely a team effort today with everyone putting the work in.”
In their latest matchup against Middle Georgia State, the Eagles once again shutout their opponent with a 5-0 victory. Five of Reinhardt’s players netted goals, with goalie Torge Wiedenroth holding his own and making some huge saves throughout the game. One of the key players in this game and this season has been sophomore Jordan Williams. Williams has accounted for five of the Eagles’ thirteen goals on the season. Along with Williams, goalie Wiendenroth has also stepped up his game in the net by helping his team to two previous shutouts.
In Reinhardt’s next game, they will travel to Greenville, SC to take on Bob Jones University on Tuesday September 22, 2015. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm.
